Sun Peaks Adaptive Snow Sports Festival Starts TODAY!:

January 20, 2010 – Sun Peaks, BC – Adaptive athletes from around the country are hitting the slopes of Sun Peaks Resort as the Sun Peaks Adaptive Snow Sports Festival gets underway at the BC Interior Resort.

In addition to instructor certification courses for CADS (Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing) Level 1, 2 and 2a and race development programs, the 2010 festival features a Come and Try Weekend where people of all abilities can experience adaptive skiing first hand.

As people learn about adaptive racing, they can watch the 2010 Western Canadian and BC Para-Alpine Championships that will be held Saturday and Sunday (Jan 30 and 31). Twenty-five racers with a range of disabilities will compete in Giant Slalom and Slalom races over the two day period.

Here is a fair question: Does American Airlines understand the concept of customer service? I would have to say NO.

The answer: When you are using the one at Boston Logan Airport.

At Boston Airport they have a supposedly free WiFi network. However, it is so crippled, and throttles back on activity with such aggression that it is useless…. Why bother installing something that doesn’t work?

So, if you are skiing in New England and are hoping to post your ski photos online before flying out, forget it….

Update: If you have the above problem try changing location. Looks like I was sitting next to a faulty WiFi base-station.

As I said in a previous post American Airlines have lost my ski bag (even after they had 6 hours to get it on the plane). I have just called American Express and they have authorised me under my travel insurance to buy some replacement ski gear. This means that I should at least be able to hit the slopes today.

Bald Mountain is open!: “The front side of Bald Mountain is now open.  Seattle Ridge and the Bowls will open as soon as avalanche control work is concluded in these areas.  Dollar Mountain is open as well.  Don’t forget to be safe, ride with a buddy and HAVE  FUN!!!”
