Off skiing….. St Anton, Austria
Currently I am travelling through a snowy UK countryside on the recently re-nationalised East Coast mainline heading off for my first ski trip of the season.
On this trip I am revisiting St Anton in Austria (theSnowSite Info). The last time I was in St Anton was in March 2005 (see the summary post here, and further information can be found in these posts) and I had a great time…. so I thought it was time to revisit one of the liveliest and most fun ski areas in Europe.
On this trip I will be travelling as a ‘solo’ skier with Mark Warner skiing. I have a 12:15 pm flight from Gatwick to Austria, and then on to the hotel.
I hope (and plan) to bring blog updates out during the week, but if I can’t get WiFi access I will ‘stock pile’ the posts until I can get a connection.
theSnowSite recently released an iPhone and iPod Touch App called snowNews (App Store Link). This App provides a way of keeping track of the latest news from ski and snowboarding sites around the world. The news is provided by official tweets from the ski areas, and also news from press-feeds processed by theSnowSite. The App was timed for release between Christmas and the New Year (that is, for after this ski trip), and as Apple usually take 2 – 3 weeks to approve an App it was submitted last weekend. Apple approved the App in 6 days… so it is now live. However, as I am away on a ski trip I may not be able to respond to any support requests, and the posting of news to the App from press releases processed by theSnowSite may also be delayed….
