Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

I’m in the process of planning a skiing trip to New Zealand. This is proving to be an interesting exercise.

The Plan:

  1. Fly from the UK to Australia and spend a few days staying with friends, and a week or so traveling around Australia.
  2. Fly from Australia to Queenstown, New Zealand to ski four local ski areas (Treble Cone, The Remarkables, Coronet and Cardrona).
  3. Fly from Queenstown to Christchurch
  4. Train, ferry, train from Christchurch to meet friends in Palmerston North.
  5. Drive from Palmerston North to Ohakune to ski on Mount Ruapehu
  6. Return to the UK, via the USA.

This is going to be a big trip. In fact, it is going to be ‘bigger’ than my last trip to the Southern Hemisphere for skiing at Falls Creek, Australia (see post).
