A big trip: Skiing in New Zealand
I’m in the process of planning a skiing trip to New Zealand. This is proving to be an interesting exercise.
The Plan:
- Fly from the UK to Australia and spend a few days staying with friends, and a week or so traveling around Australia.
- Fly from Australia to Queenstown, New Zealand to ski four local ski areas (Treble Cone, The Remarkables, Coronet and Cardrona).
- Fly from Queenstown to Christchurch
- Train, ferry, train from Christchurch to meet friends in Palmerston North.
- Drive from Palmerston North to Ohakune to ski on Mount Ruapehu
- Return to the UK, via the USA.
This is going to be a big trip. In fact, it is going to be ‘bigger’ than my last trip to the Southern Hemisphere for skiing at Falls Creek, Australia (see post).
