Day five – The drive back to Geneva

Yesterday I had a great day of skiing (read post). Clear blue skies and sunshine, plus good snow condition (high up). Today was the ‘drive-back’….
Today was my last day of skiing in Les Deux Alpes, France. Overnight we had received a little snow in the town, but it had melted before I had finished breakfast. I had a bad start to the day. I had got all my ski gear on, was walking down the road, when I looked back and saw a note on the car. I went back and had a look, it was all in French. I got out of my boots (I hate taking ski boots off once I have them on for the day), went back in to the hotel and found someone to translate the note for me… basically it was from the hotel asking me to move the car so they could get the rubbish out!
Day three of the trip, day two of skiing.
This morning the weather appeared to be OK in the town, but when I got up the mountain (after what now appears to be the usual wait for the first lift of the day) it was awful. Foggy and a howling gale with driving snow. Although looking at the photos they suggest the weather was not too bad – however, all the picts are taken at low level.
Last night I arrived in Les Deux Alpes and looking around the town I was concerned by the lack of snow, this morning, when I awoke and looked out of the window, I was surprised how little snow there was in the town and how much snow could be seen up the mountain, although with some worrying brown-patches.
So far so good, all went very well. Trip went well, flight was only delayed for 40 minutes, car hire worked a treat (20 mins to pick it up and get on the road).
Start of my second, and last, ski trip this year in Europe. This time I am off to Les Deux Alpes in France for 3 days of skiing with friends. This trip is going to be interesting as I usually ski with friends of my own age but on this trip I will be skiing with a friend and his family (husband, wife and three kids all under the age of 10).
Another update to theSnowSite.com. This update does not change the ‘look and feel’ of the website, but is an update of the ‘back-end’ database.
I have just been looking around for some last minute ski trips and I noticed something odd…. where are the RSS feeds?
Good news for the users of theSnowSite.com, Google has updated the satellite images used by Google maps and Google Earth. So, what does this mean for users of theSnowSite.com?
Just discovered that Switzerland has invaded Liechtenstein! Switzerland? Neutral Switzerland? Will this cause problems for people going on ski-holidays in Switzerland or Liechtenstein? (Please note, tongue is firmly in cheek!)
