Orange snow? In Russia….

I can across a weird bit on line… apparently they have had orange snow in Russia! Below are a couple of images from englishrussia.com, which show the event.

Orange snow in the Omsk region of Russia

This sounds similar to a ‘red dust’ incident over southern UK in July 1968 (and it has happened since then) – link, which was blamed on sand from the Sahara. May be this is what has happened in Russia…

Imagine skiing on orange snow!?

Update: The orange snow story is mentioned in the Guardian in the UK – Orange Snow – where the story contains a few more details.
