Booking the first ski trip of 2007
Well, it is that time of the year again… time to plan the first ski trip of the season. This year we have decide to go the the Alta Badi region in northern Italy, which is part of the Dolomiti Superski.
Why Alta Badi? Well, why not. None of the group I am going with has been to the region. I have skied France (see earlier post: Les Houches/Chamonix) and Austria (see earlier posts on St Anton and Saalbach) in the last couple of years and I have only skied in Italy once, back in the mid 1990s.
Having researched the Alta Badia region for thesnowsite.com, in terms of skiing available, position of resorts etc. I know that the region has the potential to offer some interesting and varied skiing.
As I have posted before (see earlier post) there are two ways to plan a ski trip, that is, use one of the ski companies such as Some companies to look at in the UK for ski trips are Crystal Ski Holidays, Expedia
, Last Minute
, Thomas Cook
, Thomson
, and Neilson
, or try and put your own together. We had a quick look around the ’ski companies’ and although they offered some great deals and packages there was nothing that really met our plans /needs (one problem being availability as we have left planning a bit late as the trip is happening in early February), so we have decided to ‘roll our own’.
As usual we will be hitting the flight sites (Expedia, hlx, LastMinute
, Thomson
, KLM, Airline Network
, and Opodo) and we will also need to hire cars (EasyCar
, ebooker, Expedia
, Holiday Autos, LastMinute.com
, Sixt
, Thrifty, Travelocity
, British Airways Car Hire in Europe
, and Opodo). For accommodation we will look at ebooker, Expedia
, Hotel Connect
, hotels.com
, Thomson Hotels
, and LastMinute
.
Hopefully we will be able to get something sorted out quite quickly as time is short….
