Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

Aviemore: Oh my! The place is even more touristy than I remember it….. It was crawling with coaches.

I drove down the main street and turned right in to this area where I knew there were a few large hotels and the best chance of finding a room.

Things have changed in Aviemore…

The large hotels seem to have come together in some sort of ‘holiday park’ and are all under the same management. When you drive up to the hotels you pass through a security gate. Check-in is in a central block which also seems to house some restaurants and shops. Once checked in I had to then return to my car and drive around the complex to find my hotel. This was annoying late in the evening, in the middle of winter, in a snow storm and a howling gale it would be enough to put me off ever wanting to visit the place again.

My room was fine… I went downstairs to get a meal but was so put off by the ‘twee Scottishness’ of the place and so headed in to town for fish and chips.
