Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

The day started with a mixture of snow, and rain.

As the weather was so unpleasant we decided to head back to Munich.

Although Munich airport is only 130 miles from Saalbach the fact that the drive down had taken over 5 hours, and we needed to be at the airport by 11 am, at the latest, on the Saturday we decided to leave Saalbach on Friday afternoon.

The drive back took just over 3 hours….. (driving directions)

A hotel in Munich (Deutsches Theater Hotel) was booked via the web and was ideally situated for the town centre, which was only a 10 minute walk away.

The previous Saturday when we had arrived at Munich airport it had been snowing heavily and there was still a lot of snow piled in the streets, there was also a lot of gravel around, the city had obviously taken its gritting task seriously. One consequence of all the grit was there were numerous dust storms blowing up and down the street.

A quick couple of beers in an Irish Bar near the main square near the Liebfrauen-Dom and then we went off to Hofbräuhaus.

The Hofbräuhaus was fantastic. A real German beer-cellar. The place was full of Germans and tourists, and German ‘barmaids’ carrying 8 litres of beer.

Munich, Germany – map it
