Day five – Saalbach Ski Trip – Austria
Sunshine, yes! Sunshine! It has finally stopped snowing…
We had a great day skiing today. Clear blue skies and fresh snow! What more could you ask for?
Sunshine in Saalbach – the view from the hotel – clear skies and fresh snow!

Sunshine on the slopes – view from the back of the hotel in Saalbach
Today we decided to go a little further and explore Hintergleem, the next village up the valley.
Great runs in the sun – skiing in sunny Saalbach
Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Lengau, Vorderglemm and Leogang are all inter-connected by lifts (and a ski-bus service) so it is quite easy to get around. We caught the main lift up to the top of Kohlmaiskopf and then worked our way towards Hinterglemm (i.e. to the left!). One run we did was 34 and then 34 a (this was because earlier in the week we had done 34a and as only three people has skied it we had 40 cm of powder to play with, this time it had been skied more but was still good fun), which leads down to the main road, unfortunately there are no lifts from this point so we caught the bus to Hinterglemm.
A typical mountain-side bar in Saalbach
From Hinterglemm we took the one of the main cable cars (Zwolferkogelbahn) to the top of Zwolferkogel and then using a series of lifts and cable cars we worked our way back to our hotel in Saalbach. The final run of the day took us down 1 and 1a, and straight to the back door of the hotel – fantastic.
Great conditions and great weather
