Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

Today I started my last ski trip of the season; this time I am going to Saalbach in Austria.

The first part of the journey is by train to London with GNER.

Now, Alanis Morissette has a track on her album ‘Jagged Little Pill’ called ‘Ironic’. The only thing that is ironic about the track is none of the things she is singing about as being ‘ironic’ are in fact ‘ironic’ (may be that is the irony of the track?). Anyway, I start my journey and the train is delayed due to snow! Now, in my book that is ironic!

Strangely for the UK that is the second time this season that I have had the start to my ski trip delayed due to snow. In December we almost missed the ferry to France due to ‘heavy’ (the word ‘heavy’ is being used here in a UK context) snow (i.e. a couple of inches – see earlier post) in Kent. Hopefully this initial delay is a good omen and mean we are going to have cold, but good skiing, conditions in Austria. I do hope it is not an omen that I am going to ‘do’ my leg (or some other part of my body) again!
