Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

My skiing ‘accident’ at Christmas (see earlier post) and recent articles in the UK press has focussed my mind on the subject of ski insurance!!!

I currently have insurance with American Express. They seem to provide good cover but one thing I have never checked was whether I could take multiple ski trips on the insurance I held with them

A quick call to the American Express insurance help-line gave me the answer!

It appears I can ski 240 days per year on my insurance, but only in 120 day blocks! Two-hundred and forty days! One hundred and twenty days blocks! Wow! Yikes!

Now, 120 days is 4 months… How many ski areas around the world are open for 120 days per year….. Not that many! Off the top of my head I know Killington in Vermont, USA, comes close. Where else could I go?

And another question these figures raise is – how much would it cost to ski 8 months of a year?

The mind boggles!

Some other insurance providers are ski-insurance.co.uk, Columbus, ebooker, Flexicover, and travel-insurance-online.com, however, I have no idea if their terms compare with American Expresses.
