Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

Despite injuring myself on my last ski trip (see the summary post to the Chamonix Valley I have already started planning the next one….

The next ski trip is to be with two friends and we are trying to decide between Morzine in France and the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixenta region in Austria….

Why these two areas? Well, we are trying to avoid ‘doing a package’ this year after last years’ semi-disaster to St Anton (St Anton was great, however, the package company and the chalet were not great – see St Anton, 2005) and we have decided to ‘build our own’ by looking at major ski areas near major airports.

Morzine – this is near Geneva airport (about an hours drive – 50 miles), and has the advantage of being near Les Gets (4 miles from Morzine and 40 miles from Geneva airport) and also about 40 miles from Chamonix (note: Chamonix is about 50 miles from Geneva airport). Flying to Geneva (see Opodo for cheap flights) offers a lot of options.

Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental – this is about 100 miles from Munich airport. The Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixenta region is a large ski region with a lot of inter-connecting resorts and ski areas. Again, I will be searching Opodo for cheap flights.

The research begins…..
