Skiing, Boarding and snow around the world

I am still on crutches with a painful left leg.

This evening I had to head out of London, back up north.

As usual the rail Gods are plotting against me. I have ended up getting a train from Kings Cross to Ely, and from Ely to Peterborough, just so I can avoid getting a bus from Stevenage to Peterborough. Yep, you guessed it, another weekend and the tracks are being dug up (it was also a nightmare trying to travel by train over Christmas as most of the network in and out of south-west London seemed to be closed). This means a three hour 15 minute journey is now going to take close to 6 hours.

Call me old fashioned, but if I buy a train ticket I like to travel by rail.

One thing that is interesting about the journey is that when traveling on crutches some people seem to go out of their way to help you, and yet others just ignore the problem. I have also become acutely aware of steps and the slipperiness of wet station platforms.
