Staying at the Koki
We are staying in the Kiko, Falls Creek, Australia.
It is a rather odd ‘hotel’. Judging by the style, and the pictures on the walls, it was built in the 1970s. The hotel is located in the top half of the village. The hotel has a swimming pool and sauna, a boot / coat drying room (don’t leave your lift pass on you coat as it may walk or go black due to the heat), and has an attached ski / boarding rental shop.
The hotel offers no other facilities. No food was available (except for a vending machine), however, guests can use the kitchen to prepare their own meals. I would guess that the hotel originally offered meals….
The room is small, and warm (underfloor heating) and contains one double bed, a bunk bed and a sofa bed. The room also has a very small loo and shower.
Please excuse the mess, but this is what happens when 4 people share a small room in the Koki Hotel in Falls Creek, Australia, for 3 days!
The cost is around $150 (Australian) per person for the 4 nights of our stay.
Ski hire was good, and boots and skis were hired for around $90 for three days.
On our first night we popped out to a local hotel / restaurant where I had a very nice steak and chips. One thing that intrigued me was of about 15 – 20 people in the restaurant at least 3 had bits of body in plaster…. worrying!
